Zeiss 8x60 U-boat deck binoculars 'blc' + filters
A scarce original and totally 'untouched’ pair of the so-called 'tall' Kriegsmarine Zeiss 'blc' 8x60 binoculars - a specific variant able to be used for deck mounting and commonly seen in handheld use by U-Boat commanders etc.
A wonderful pair which have clearly 'been there', exhibiting relatively minor wear to the textured outer coating, yet still remain in great overall condition exactly as you would want - and even come fitted with the original polarising glare filters, as shown.
The optics, aside from some relatively minor internal debris / striations - as is commonly seen on the reticule plate within the right-hand side (and not directly on the lenses themselves) - still produce a sharp image that is a pleasure to use, and rates well for a binocular which has never been opened up or messed with since it left the factory!
Original early blue/purple coatings remain to all lenses.
As mentioned, the much more scarcely seen internal reticule (vertical aiming line), which enabled this pair to be used on a deck mount for aiming purposes when surfaced, is also still intact inside.
Clearly captured and having fallen into British hands at some stage - they remain fitted with the British canvas neck strap, exactly as they were found.
A pair which would make the perfect addition to any KM / U-Boat or related optics collection, as well as comprising an item which can still be put to some use today!
