Zeiss 7x50 Kriegsmarine Artl. binoculars 'blc'
A very nice, totally honest 'as found' example of the mid to late-war Kriegsmarine issue Zeiss 7x50 'gas ocular' binoculars - designed to be used in conjunction with a gas mask, if needed.
Yet, that is where the usual normalities cease with this pair... These are a set which are one of a few binoculars that we have both personally collected / observed over many years that have at some stage been wartime factory-refurbished, almost certainly by Zeiss, for issue to KM Artillerie forces.
This encapsulates the addition of the Zeiss-style eagle and 'Artl.' designation to the objective rings, as shown.
Other binoculars observed with this exact same refurbishment and applied markings have mainly included further examples of Zeiss' own production optics; but also a Leitz Wetzlar 'beh' 7x50 - plus a couple of coated lens, roof prism 7x56 & 10x50 variants from Hensoldt Wetzlar 'bmj'.
The optics on this pair still function to produce a nice collimated image - and most notably include the KM artillery crosshair rangefinding reticule visible within the right-hand side!
Indeed, this one even still has the original leather ocular lens cover - which is seldom seen intact.
A very rare surviving example of this variant which would be a highlight within any Kriegsmarine or optics related collection!
