A very nice example of a known variant of U-boat cap tradition emblem as attributed to the crew of U-777.
U-777 itself would be sunk at on the 15 October 1944 whilst in port at Wilhelmshaven by bombs during an RAF British air raid. No casualties to the crew were inflicted during this attack, and the boat was later raised before being decommissioned.
