Leitz 7x50 Kriegsmarine Artl. binoculars 'beh'

Leitz 7x50 Kriegsmarine Artl. binoculars 'beh'

£995.00Price

An extremely rare, as found pair of Leitz Wetzlar manufactured 7x50 Kriegsmarine binoculars, produced under the 'beh' maker code.

These are a set which are one of only a handful of binoculars that we have both personally collected / observed over many years that have at some stage been wartime factory-refurbished, almost certainly by Zeiss, for issue to KM Artillerie forces.

This encapsulates the addition of the early Zeiss-style eagle and 'Artl.' designation inscribed to the left prism plate, as shown.

Other binoculars observed with this exact same refurbishment and applied markings have included numerous examples of Zeiss' own production optics, of which we have also collected a handful examples over the years - with one such example currently listed separately - plus a couple of coated lens, roof prism variants from Hensoldt Wetzlar.

The optics on this pair still function to produce a collimated image, but could also benefit from a service if deemed necessary - yet most notably include the KM artillery crosshair rangefinding reticule visible within the right-hand side!

An incredibly rare, and possibly unique, surviving variant which would certainly be a real highlight within any Kriegsmarine or optics related collection!
