RARE early model Zeiss 7x50 U-boat binoculars 'blc'

£0.00Price

A very rare pair of the early variant of 7x50 U-boat binoculars produced by Carl Zeiss Jena under the 'blc' maker code. These models, aside from the serial number and despite being brought up to later wartime specifications by Zeiss, can be identified by the unique ocular lens configuration (19mm diameter).

According to serial number studies, this binocular is 1 of only around 20 examples which are still known to survive today from a batch of 2000 produced in early 1942!

Finished in the typical KM shade of yellow/green, this particular set retains much of the original textured painted finish; albeit with clear handling wear and losses typical of extensive service use. They also come complete with the original rubber armour, leather neck strap and the remains of the Benutzer cord stem still attached.

The fixed-focus and coated optics on this pair still function to produce a somewhat usable and collimated image after all this time - but note they would definitely benefit from an internal clean if desired for any kind of more serious use purposes to remove considerable internal outgassing/haze.

A very rarely seen variant of the U-boat binocular and the only one of its type which we have ever had to offer!
