An incredibly rare example of an empty card ammunition box which once held fifteen 7.92x57mm B-Patronen (Beobachtung Patrone) or 'observation rounds' containing a high-explosive incendiary charge!
In order to circumvent Geneva Convention rules, these were to be used for observation purposes only - but whether this was always the case is subject to much conjecture, particularly with regards to combat upon the Eastern Front!
Probably one of, if not the rarest of all the German small arms ammunition types to find today - with the original packing boxes, such as this, arguably proving even more elusive to obtain!
