MG42 Lafette tripod mount 'fsu 1942'
A very nice example of the s.M.G. heavy Lafette 42 tripod for the MG42.
This particular one is a scarcely seen, very early first-run production example produced by Brandenburger Fahrrad und Motorradwerk, Excelsior - as indicated by the 'fsu' maker code - in 1942!
Indeed, this particular example is only the 507th example to have rolled off the Lafette 42 production line!
The tripod has undergone a repaint back into period style field grey, correct for this date of Lafette tripod. Where parts of the wartime applied factory feldgrau have survived, such as on the search fire mechanism housing, these have been retained in their original state and left uncovered.
The traverse and elevation mechanism retains its correct original Überschießtafel overhead firing data plaque.
As is typical for an early example, the tripod is littered with plenty of Waffenamt markings to the smaller parts throughout.
All adjustment mechanisms remain fully functional and it is ready to accept any MG42 to make for a truly stunning display setup!
