A nice honest, pre-war M31 mess kit (Kochgeschirr) coded 'jsd 38' to indicate manufacture by J.Schmalzeder Erben, Dresden.
The lid is also matching maker coded, dated 1939, but clearly in the exact same paint finish which is retained to a very high degree throughout.
