Wooden head torch box 'egs 44'

Wooden head torch box 'egs 44'

£0.00Price

A stunning late-war wooden box to store the headlamp torch (Stirnlampe) and its associated accessories. The exterior of the box features the designation 'Beleuchtung', applied in black over the original factory applied tan paint, which is retained in excellent condition to over 95%+! To the side, the box is stamped with the maker code and date 'egs 44'. The original canvas hand strap and front closure mechanism - which also features a tan coloured Presstoff pull-tab - both remain completely intact.

Inside, the layout of the box is separated into four compartments by wooden dividers. This area has been lacquered at some stage, likely to waterproof/protect the bare wood from damage. The original contents label still remains to the lid, and this somewhat notably includes a few omisions over the earlier version of this box - further signifying the shift to a decreased use of resources by this point in the war.

Overall, a simply excellent example of this scarce item of late-war equipment!
