Late-war 10x80 Flakfernrohr 'cxn' + transit box
One where the photos will do most of the talking is this veteran bring-back, complete boxed set of the iconic D.F. 10x80 Flakfernrohr binoculars!
These are clearly a late-war example, with all of the component parts finished in ordnance tan or Einheitsfarbe. They are also clearly maker coded 'cxn' - indicating manufacture by Emil Busch, Rathenow.
The optics still remain functional, but would require a full internal clean and service if desired for useage purposes to remove internal spores. The crosshair aiming reticule remains intact within the right-hand side.
Notably though, is the fact that this set features the rarely seen multi-coated lenses. These provide incredible light gathering properties; very much perceptible when compared to any regular 10x80.
In terms of accessories, this set comes with everything that it should. Including the battery box, optical lead (also matching maker 'Busch Rathenow' marked), spare bulbs, headrest pad and even a complete Flakvisier quick-sight aiming attachment - which is very often missing from such sets!
The binoculars and all of these accessories are held within the rare late-war, compact variant of the wooden storage box for the 10x80s. Also still finished in the original wartime tan paint externally, the box retains all of the internal compartments and fittings inside to hold the binoculars and all of the accessories
Each end of the box features hand-applied blue markings - perhaps most likely to signify the suitability of use for this binocular in colder climes due to the internal grease etc used. A unit marking to which they once belonged was also applied on top, as shown.
Genuinely one of the very best binocular sets which we have ever had the pleasure to offer! If you just want one example of this iconic piece of equipment to display in your collection, then here it is...
