Kriegsmarine U-boat crew goggles 'AUER Neophan'

An excellent example of the 'AUER Neophan' red-tinted goggles, which remain complete with the original elastic headband straps. 
 
This variation of the AUER goggles were worn by the U-boat crews to acclimatise to the darkness, which was necessary before entering the tower to ensure an optimal view immediately upon exiting the internal space.
