A exceptionally nice original Kriegsmarine Bordmutze sidecap in dark blue cloth. This example remains in excellent condition, and is fitted with the factory insignia to the front peak. 

 

This one also comes with a tradition pin badge for U-575, which is a scarcely seen original but added later for display purposes. The badge is maker marked to the reverse. 

 

U-575 was a type VIIC U-boat and one which took part in a total of 10 patrols. During these actions it was responsible for sinking 8 ships and 1 warship. Ultimately, however, the U-boat was to meet its demise on the 13th March 1944, when attacked by combined Canadian, American and British forces. 18 crewmen were killed as a result of the loss, with 37 survivors.
