Grey/brown camo MG34/42 E-kasten / ammo tin 'SmK L'

A nice lightweight aluminium Patronenkasten 34 ammo can for the MG34/42, factory finished in the original subtle grey/brown spray camouflage pattern, typical of the early-war period. 
 
It is clearly a tin that has also undergone a number of different uses! Initially as an ammunition tin containing 7.92x57mm SmK L rounds (armour piercing with tracer), before clearly being marked with the letter 'E' and later becoming an E-kasten or Erganzungkasten (spare parts box) for the MG34. 
 
This example is Waffenamt and maker logo marked to the lid. All handles and latches operate, including the locking latch despite missing the end section as shown. 
 
A nice, unique 'been there and seen it' condition piece for any MG34/42 collection or equipment display!
