Gestell 40 wooden optic tripod 'bef'
A very nice example of the Gestell 40 vartiant of wooden optic tripod. This model was introduced as a simplified update over the earlier Gestell 31, and can be used with a variety of optical instruments, including the S.F.14 trench periscope, Richtkries aiming devices and the Entfernungsmesser 36 rangefinder etc.
This example has been reissued, with green paint applied over the original wartime tan colour finish - note that this would appear to be intact to quite a high degree beneath the later green, should someone wish to undertake removal of this outer layer.
The wartime maker markings still remain clear, with the tripod being coded 'bef' to indicate manufacture by Clemens Riefler, Fabrik Mathematischer Instrumente, Nasselwang/Bayern.
All mount adjustments work as they should, and all 3 legs remain extendable. Even the spirit level vial still remains intact and functional!
