Battle of Berlin - Russian Captured MG34/42 Patronenkasten '1945'

One where the photos will do most of the talking!

A late-war period wooden 'Luftdichter Patronenkasten' (airtight ammo box) which would have held 1500 rounds of 7.92x57mm armour piercing (orange tracer) rounds for use with the MG34 / MG42!

Labelled for production on January 13th 1945, this example was clearly captured by the Soviets and subsequent property markings were applied to the exterior.

The box itself was found on the Berlin Ostbahnhof fleamarket a number of years ago, having purportedly been discovered initially during clearance of a warehouse in a borough of the former East Berlin.

A truly unique example that almost certainly participated in the desperate defence of Berlin during 1945!
