7x50 'blc' 7x50 U-boat binoculars + Benutzer

A super original pair of the mid to late-war Zeiss 'blc' coded 7x50 U-boat binoculars in completely untouched, as found condition. Fresh to the collector's market having come direct from the estate of a British veteran. 
 
Each U-boat would have carried a complement of 10 of these binoculars for use on watch duties whilst surfaced.
 
Finished in the typical KM shade of yellow/green, this particular set retains a the vast majority of the original finish - with the numerous paint/primer layers showing through. 
 
They also retain all of the period black rubber armour, which remains in great condition - as well as the original dark red Benutzer ocular cover! 
 
The fixed-focus and coated optics on this pair still produce a great image as to be expected from Zeiss optical instruments built to this standard. As well as displaying what is perhaps the very best preserved example of the red lens coatings we have ever encountered... 
 
As such, not only is this example a greatly desirable and collectible piece of U-boat history, but also one that remains fully functional and could easily rival any modern equivalent today!
