7x50 'blc' 7x50 U-boat binoculars

£0.00Price

A very nice original pair of late-war Zeiss 'blc' coded 7x50 U-boat binoculars which come exactly as they were found in Scotland - the location where the majority of such pieces appear to surface, almost certainly from U-boats which were surrendered and subsequently scuttled there during Operation Deadlight

During active service, each U-boat would have carried a complement of 10 of these binoculars for use on watch duties whilst surfaced.

This particular pair are finished in a reissue black over remnants of the original factory tan paint - a bit of an enigma in the collecting world, with some conjecture still surrounding whether this occurred as part of German refurbishment efforts or later when employed in use with / sold by the Royal Navy.

In any instance, this pair retains all of the original period rubber armour, which remains in very good condition overall with only relatively minimal cracking as to be typically expected with age.

The fixed-focus optics on this pair also remain very good as they stand, still producing nice usable image which is to be expected from Zeiss optical instruments built to this standard!

A pair that would make for a very nice addition to any collection and/or also for continued use if so desired!
